Dawn Snapp Promotes U-Haul as Garden City Chamber President

Jul 16, 2015

In the 4.2-square-mile industrial town of Garden City, Idaho, which sits in the shadow of Boise, inspiring things are happening.

Dawn Snapp, executive assistant at U-Haul MCO 718, possesses a hunger for success, a dedication for empowering others and a passion for making an impact in her community.

Since January 2014, Snapp has served as the president and a board of directors member of the Garden City Chamber of Commerce. Her expected term is two years and will run through this December.

Snapp’s duties include, but are not limited to: Garden City Council meetings; working with the GCCC, mayor and city council; Chamber Alliance meetings; arranging monthly luncheon speakers; planning monthly Business After Hours (BAH) events; organizing special events; government planning, zoning and education meetings; and participating in numerous nonprofit fundraisers to support local charities.

“I enjoy being a part of a personable group that is close knit and offers a family type of networking,” Snapp said. “It is extremely fulfilling to being a part of the community. It does not feel like work.”

On June 11, Snapp arranged to have U-Haul Moving & Storage at Chinden Boulevard in Boise host a BAH event. Various GCCC members and guests were able to tour the U-Haul store and U-Box warehouse, learn about eMove, become familiar with U-Haul products and services, and even witness a Team Member eat packing peanuts in order to demonstrate the sustainability of U-Haul products.

No word on whether the packing peanuts were salted, roasted or boiled. U-Haul does not recommend trying this at home (hopefully you have better options in the pantry).

Snapp graciously managed the event and now serves as the face of U-Haul in the GCCC. Chamber and community members consistently approach Snapp about U-Haul products and often pose questions about who they need to see regarding U-Haul services. Snapp kindly refers them to where they need to go.

According to Snapp, Chamber participation “is all about networking in the community and the community thriving.”

Snapp and the GCCC are currently working with the Idaho Cattle Association on its annual Cattle Industry Convention and Trade Show. The event will take place in July 14-18 in Garden City. Festivities will include: dances, dinners, community park events, and a cattle drive down the main industrial street, Chinden Boulevard.

Snapp is grateful for the support of MCP Phil Danley and ADVP Doug McIntier, who support her extended role in the community and the positive light she shines on U-Haul. Snapp’s participation in a GCCC has allowed her to establish long-term relationships while increasing visibility in the community for U-Haul Moving & Storage at Chinden Boulevard.

In addition to her involvement with the GCCC, Snapp is the state lead ambassador for the American Cancer Society, a member of the Human Resources Association of the Treasure Valley (HRATV), a member of the Human Rights Association and an Idaho Chamber Alliance member. Somehow she finds time to raise three children.

U-Haul is proud to have Snapp as part of its operation and appreciates all Team Members who take an active role in making their communities better.
