K&K Concrete Construction Rocks Detroit!

Mission Impossible Showroom Floor! Having to build a showroom floor almost 15 feet above the existing floor sounds like mission impossible to me! But not for K&K Concrete Construction–being the best Detroit has to offer. K&K Concrete Construction rocks Detroit! With partners Dan and Kevin as knowledgeable as they are, the special plans needed to get the flooring moving along were as easy as 1, 2, 3! With their big truck and digger, no job is too difficult for K&K Concrete.

Can you guess how much steel it took to build up the flooring and secure it properly? With more than 14,100 lbs of steel, this floor is going to be sturdy enough for a Mack truck to drive on it. (I think you get the picture.) The amount of engineering and planning that goes into a project like this is incomprehensible to a layman like myself, but the following pictures can give you a better idea of the work involved with this project and catch you up to speed on where we stand today.

K&K Concrete Construction: The Best in Detroit!
K&K Concrete Construction rocks!
It really does look like a turtle shell!

You learn something new everyday. I learned the construction industry actually gives new meaning to the word “turtle.” Concrete is very heavy, and as it comes through the tube to be poured in a designated location the turtles are used to make sure the tube doesn’t move around and that the pour is done precisely. I can only imagine how heavy the concrete is as it flows through the tubing during a pour. And that is where the very important “turtle” comes into play and the trustworthy person put in charge of pulling multiple turtles into position.  Being a “turtle puller” is not a job to be taken lightly.  The turtle puller rearranges the turtles to leverage the tubing and ensure the pouring is being done properly.

Cool trowel!

Not only did the floor get poured this week, but K&K Concrete Construction brought a really cool high-tech trowel to finish the job off right. I, personally, have only seen a handheld trowel–the one you use while kneeling on the floor. Well, like everything nowadays, this trowel is “hands-free” and supposed to be one of the best in the business. We can’t wait to see the finishing touch this trowel will put on the concrete. Now we wait 10 days for the concrete to cure. Let the count down begin!

We really can’t say enough about the professionalism and work ethic of the entire crew at K&K Concrete Construction! They took the time needed to ensure our job was completed in the most efficient manner possible which maximized the timing of the project and minimized the costs.

The next project K&K Concrete Construction is tackling for us is the hole that was produced when we found the room at the end of the underground tunnel!

Let’s hear it for K&K Concrete. We think you rock!
