U-Haul Truck Share 24/7 Video Earns a Telly Award

Jun 5, 2018

U-Haul was recognized as a Telly Award silver recipient for its “U-Haul Truck Share 24/7” video. The piece was selected among 12,000-plus entries from all 50 states and five continents to be recognized by the 39th annual Telly Awards.

U-Haul Truck Share 24/7® was created in response to the sharing economy that is sweeping the globe. U-Haul Truck Share 24/7 offers self-pick-up and self-return of trucks and vans at all hours, every day of the week. An internet-connected mobile device with camera and GPS is all that is needed to take advantage of this option.

“Our U-Haul Truck Share 24/7 video was created to show off this transformative technology while teaching customers how to easily and safely rent trucks using their smartphones,” said Troy Wilson, U-Haul Digital Media manager. “U-Haul Truck Share 24/7 is a very visual process, so our team was excited to get out there and create a quality video for our customers.”

And the Winner is …

The Telly Awards were founded in 1979 and serve as the premier award honoring outstanding local, regional and cable TV commercials and programs; the finest video and film productions; and online commercials, video and films. Winners represent the best work of the most respected advertising agencies, production companies, television stations, cable operators and corporate video departments in the world.

“U-Haul is pushing the boundaries for video and television innovation and creativity at a time when the industry is rapidly changing,” said Sabrina Dridje, Managing Director of the Telly Awards. “This award is a tribute to the talent and vision of its creators.”

More than 500 accomplished industry professionals, each a past winner of a Silver Telly and a member of the Silver Telly Council, judged the competition, upholding the historical standard of excellence that Telly represents. The Silver Council evaluated entries to recognize distinction in creative work. Entries do not compete against each other, but rather are judged against a high standard of merit. Less than 10 percent of entries are chosen as Silver Telly winners. About 25 percent of entries are chosen as Bronze Telly winners.

“We are honored to be recognized for our dedication and commitment to great film and video production,” Wilson added. “U-Haul Truck Share 24/7 was a positive disruption for the self-move industry and it deserved a high-quality video to tell its story and provide instruction to our millions of customers.”

U-Haul won the Bronze Telly in the 37th annual Telly Awards competition for its insightful video “Making History: The Manufacturing U-Haul Story.”

Congratulations to the U-Haul Digital Media and Production team on this terrific honor!
